Episode 14. Sandeep Kaur

Grounded Families - A podcast by Julia Goodall - Fridays

This week on the podcast I speak with the brilliant Sandeep Kaur, human rights lawyer and mother of two. We speak about Sandeep’s journey into law, how it involved liberating herself from cultural and familial expectations of how she should live as a brown woman. We also speak about her journey into motherhood, and the freedom and healing she’s found in making choices and creating a life for her girls. We look at our resistance to mainstream schooling, and ultimately how we are also entrenched in, and dependent on these systems to live. Sandeep shares her experiences of practical and generative anti-racism work within this system, giving excellent resources which I’ve listed in the show notes. This was such a meaningful conversation to me, I hope you enjoy it.
