Hey girl! Today, I'm sharing the REAL SCARY TRUTH of how terrifying Halloween & the holidays can be during disordered eating & eating disorder recovery. During my worst, Halloween candy & all the holiday treats gave me anxiety & pushed me back into disordered patterns multiple times. Many clients I work with find that this time of year is the hardest when navigating freedom from their eating disorder. The fear of weight gain is REAL. The binge/purge/restrict cycle is REAL. & the scariest thing is allowing yourself to have any treat at all when you have restricted yourself or viewed candy as "bad" for so very long. But, there is HOPE! In today's show, I talk about 4 different tactics that you can leverage on Halloween or any holiday to keep you from going back to old patterns. I share with you 4 ways that helped me stay on track in my recovery journey while navigating the HARD holidays, when everything seemed to revolve around food. My goal for this episode is that you will find peace in the day, & that you will allow yourself grace in the journey.
