What was once considered "street culture and music for kids" is now a globally dominate force that set the standard for popular culture. Five decades in, the culture has seen many phases and expanded to genres outside of its own. As we continue to celebrate hip-hop's impact, we thought it was important to not only talk about its history, but also to acknowledge the legacy of challenges within that culture.
