Imagine teaching for 37 years, traveling all over the world, and having taught over 2.5 million people, and then one day...being told that you would never speak or write again. That’s exactly what happened to this week's guest Paul Cummings, whom I had the extreme honor of sitting down with to discusses how he beat all odds and gained a new perspective on gratitude. I first heard about Paul when our mutual friend, Andy Heck introduced me to his book, It All Matters, and I heard about his powerful story and optimistic outlook on life. Today, Paul shares with us about when he had a stroke and was then diagnosed with advanced Aphasia, which is loss of ability to express speech (or understand it) caused by brain damage. In our interview Paul shares with us why he believes that those who are diagnosed with Aphasia are some of the “bravest people you will ever meet”, why he wakes up every morning at 4 AM and practices his speech for four hours, how his mother has shaped his outlook on life, and why he is “not a prisoner” to anything. I was so inspired by Paul and his story and know that you will love this incredibly raw and powerful conversation. We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic!
