Charlotte Mensforth: "There was a knock at the door - I could no longer stay in the US"

The Ibiza-based artist Charlotte Mensforth has had an adventurous life to say the least. She grew up near London in the Second World War, trained there, and then travelled Europe, eventually meeting the novelist Jack Beeching. Jack had lived in Formentara and St Vicente, Ibiza, and his first wife wrote the excellent book “A Valley Wide”, published by Martin Davies of Barbary Press. Charlotte and Jack moved to the US in the 1960’s where Jack’s left-wing leanings led to the couple being kicked out of that country as well as Greece. After visiting and painting in Ibiza it was finally after Jack died that Charlotte made the island her permanent home. Ibizology podcast artwork by Lizzie Langford
