2021 is the Year of Rail, an EU wide initiative to promote rail as "a sustainable, innovative and safe mode of transport”. Railways have an incredible opportunity to invest in passenger experience to increase the number of travelers they serve. In addition, digitalizing the existing infrastructure (utilizing asset management and digital twin) allows both cargo and passengers to be transported in a sustainable, affordable, and safe way.
