In Episode 78 of Insights I am going to ask you to not agree with what I am about to share. I do not want you to agree either. I would love for you to just allow this idea to simmer somewhere in the middle. All good? So here we go... Our thoughts do not belong to us. Our thoughts are not ours. We do not create them. Our thoughts are no more ours than the song belongs to the radio or the iphone which plays the song. The iphone radio is a channel. The iphone brings to life in our physical worlds something that previously was invisible and beyond everyday perception. In fact the song exists independently of the iphone/radio. The radio does not create the music, it doesn’t own it, it simply operates as an apparatus or channel or an instrument which the frequency of the sound comes into our awareness. The radio has no opinion on what the music sounds like. It just simply brings into physical awareness what is focused on by the dial. Just yesterday (as of the time of this writing/podcast), I had the internet connected to our newly renovated home. In order to test it I brought my laptop over to our new home (it wasn’t ready to be moved into yet). I plugged our modem in, connected my laptop and wa la! Where ever we place our attention, brings this thought stream to life. These thought streams can also be known as streams of consciousness. It has been proven in consciousness research that consciousness exists independently of our bodies, of our ego personality. Our bodies act as complex channels of streams of consciousness. What we refer to as ‘we’ or ‘I’, operates as a radio which makes the soundwaves become expressed as music. Well, if all this was to be true, how is this useful to us? Great question! One of the most difficult things about life for many people, is taking the mental action of letting go. The ability to let go is crucial to our emotional fitness. Everything in our lives right now, at some point, we will need to let go of. There is zero exception to this. The other crucial element to our emotional fitness, is... ...
