Today is about finding your joy again using Instagram. And letting go of anything that doesn’t bring you joy. Out with the old, and in with the new. If you haven’t watched Marie Kondo on Netflix, or read her book, this might be kind of an odd topic. But the premise of it is that Marie rummages through strangers closets who having a hard time parting with objects. You might be at a place in your Instagram journey where you want to change the look of your IG feed. Or you might be wondering if one of the Instagram tools is even necessary for you anymore. So let’s Marie Kondo your Instagram account! To start this off, take a few minutes and look at your Instagram account. Your bio, your highlights, the posts you’ve been sharing, even your followers or accounts you’re following. Other than getting a lot of engagement, what brings you joy? And what immediately feels like “ugh, I don’t love that anymore”?#1. We recently decided to let go of our Highlights. This is something that could be very beneficial for many businesses, but for us, it’s just yet another thing to update and keep on top of. It also doesn’t bring us any new engagement. #2. Your bio may need to be Marie Kondo’d. We talk about this often. Your bio should be looked at and changed or updated at least a couple of times a year. #3. What are you currently posting? Are you in a rut? Don’t know what’s working or not working anymore? If so, then it’s time to Marie Kondo the crap out of your feed! Take a look at what has worked in the past six months inside your insights and jot down a few notes, and then look at what posts you loved, and filled you with joy. #4. It’s time to Marie Kondo who you’re following AND your audience. Tap over to your current followers, swipe through, and look for ghost accounts or bots. Removing these, yes, will lower your follower count that you’ve worked so hard to increaseNow, regarding the accounts you’re following, it’s the same thing. It hurts those accounts if you are never going to engage with their content. Don’t feel bad unfollowing them. By unfollowing those accounts that you just don’t get anything from anymore, you help them out, and it means you can now see more of the content you really connect with, and content that actually brings you joy!If you’re not feeling right about unfollowing someone, it’s okay to press Mute on their posts and stories. This will notify Instagram that you don’t want to see their content currently. Serving your followers will always make it feel like a place filled with joy. Don’t ever forget the joy.Check us out on Instagram @thesocial.focus @angela.s.doyon and @natcaronphoto JOIN INSTAGRAM FOR BUSINESS NOW! (the online course and community where you learn to scroll less and sell more!)We love and use Buzzsprout to host Instagram for Business Podcast and they have made it easy and seamless (plus their customer service is by far one of the best!)This site contains affiliate links to products.
