Hi, this is Larry from the International Institute of Digital Marketing. In this podcast, I’m going to introduce some tips regarding how to engage your content with the platform's characteristics, taking examples based on my current work as a TikTok marketing intern. We all know content marketing is essential since it usually formulates the first impression your audience will get. We create content to present our value, mission and obtain audiences. But, sometimes there can be a problem, that your content or even your company’s culture is not appealing to a platform’s mainstream user. In such a case, what shall we do? My current intern company is a Swedish fashion start-up, who specifically focuses on promoting equality and diminishing discrimination in the fashion and modeling industry, by providing a website where everyone can equally register their profile to be exposed to modeling agencies. Such a feature determines its social media contents are always inspirational, influential, educational, and sometimes even critical. These are generally contrary to TikTokers’ appetite since they mostly prefer simple and funny content. Based on these facts, I, together with the company’s CEO and the marketing division, did lots of research and identified some trendy TikTok fashion themes which can be adopted by our accounts. We also retrospected our previous blog posts, figured out why some contents are popular, while others couldn’t. During this process, the marketing division insisted on the company’s value and mission, instead of being deviated from the original intention. What’s more, the company keeps its target audience's range in mind, knowing exactly whom to attract. Besides, we took efforts to balance what is popular and the company’s mission. Also, we used analytics tools to figure out previous performance through data regarding likes and followers.
