Hi, this is Quynh Phuong Le, a current Brand Marketing Analyst Intern at the International Institute of Digital Marketing. Today, I would like to briefly talk about some social media tips and strategies for non-profit organizations to raise awareness and increase donations. Since the majority of social media platforms are pay-to-play, it’s not easy to capture the audience without investing in advertising. Thus, nonprofits, they are struggling to boost their visibility and garner more assistance through the use of social media. That’s why I’m sharing this guide with you on how to utilize social media to increase online presence and garner more funds for your nonprofit. It’s undeniable that social media marketing is an effective approach for nonprofits. Such online platforms substantially boost reach, in turn, raise awareness. Additionally, social media increases traffic to an organization’s website through links on social media posts. It also promotes an organization’s services and mission. According to HubSpot, the main goals of nonprofits’ social media efforts are fundraising, creating brand recognition, and sharing news. In 2019, more than 3.6 billion people in the world used social media. For this reason, utilizing social media correctly brings you the opportunity to promote your services and brings you closer to your supporters. Let’s dive into some actionable and strategic tips you’ll need to consider to grow donations and awareness on social media. Firstly, set clear social media goals that align with your organization’s objectives. Secondly, identify your target audience and create marketing personas. You should understand what type of content your audiences are interested in, and know which platforms they are frequently active on. Then, determine which platforms you’ll be focusing on. Last but not least, develop your content strategy, meaning that you need to know what time frame you want to post, and decide on how many posts you’ll be scheduling per day or per week. I hope these small tips and tweaks would help you kick start your nonprofit’s social media strategy and guide you to effective performance. All the best!
