Today, a pianist who writes his own music: 17-year-old Bazyli Siwek of Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood. Along with three of his own pieces, he presents music by Clara Schumann, Robert Nathaniel Dett, Maurice Ravel, and Lowell Liebermann. Thank you to the Rhapsody Theater for hosting this Introductions session. Bazyli Siwek is a pianist attending the Chicago Academy for the Arts. Studying with Jonathan Hannau, Bazyli performs all across Chicago, for example at the Harris Theater, Ganz Hall, Epiphany Center for the Arts, as well as in various local churches and universities. Bazyli also participates in many charity performances. In the Fall of 2021, he along with other artists helped raise $10,000 for the Elizabeth Glasier Pediatric Aids Foundation. On top of being an avid performer, Bazyli also composes works for piano, voice, orchestra, and various ensembles, works which he has also performed in many recitals across Chicago. Bazyli has also taken master classes and worked with professors from the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Roosevelt University, Boston Conservatory, the Royal College of Music, and the Jacobs School of Music. Bazyli also has a passion for jazz, and he has already performed in some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in Chicago, such as Winter’s Jazz Club, Andy’s Jazz club, and the Jazz Showcase. Bazyli will also be furthering his studies by enrolling in the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Dr. Wael Farouk.
