Day 19 - When in Rome - Italia '90 - One Day at a Time

One Day At A Time Football Podcast - A podcast by One Day at a Time

Ireland take on Italy in the World Cup Quarter Final in Rome and we mark the day with a busy show. Our main guest is Eamon Dunphy, marginalised for his views in 1990 but through the prism of 30 years later, he certainly looks to have been harshly received in all quarters from the taxi ranks of Dublin to the press conferences of Palermo. He speaks to us about his Italia '90 memories and the legacy of Jack Charlton's Ireland reign. The full crew are on the show today, Rob Murphy and co Host Ciaran O'Hara have Mick Foley, Billy Joe Padden and Colin Sheridan on board for the re-watch of what might well have been Ireland's best performance of the competition despite the 1-0 defeat.  Stay tuned too for the days other game, Argentina's victory over Yugoslavia on penalties marked the end of an era for the men from Balkans as they left the field in a major tournament for the last time before the state dissolved into turmoil. Croatian football journalist Drazen Krudra joins us to provide some perspective on the feeling that this group could have done even more in 1994.
