Why Were Beverly's Basketball Courts Ripped Out?

Decades ago, officials demolished Beverly's three outdoor basketball courts. Politicians and neighbors cited safety concerns but at least one unnamed resident told the Chicago Tribune in 2000 “There was trouble with a lot of Black kids coming in.” Now, some neighbors want them back.
