Barbara Hepworth is one of the greatest artists to ever come out of the UK. Achieving monumental heights of fame and success during her life, she developed a sculptural language that makes her work not only timeless but so instantly recognisable as her own. This week I take you on a whistle-stop tour of her life and work during her time living and working in her iconic studio and gardens in St.Ives!! I talk you through Hepworth’s practice, my experience while visiting her studio in St Ives, August 2021; and why I think it’s important to visit where an artist works to truly help understand what makes them tick as a creator. The studio was an experience which will stay with me forever and somewhere I cannot recommend enough should you find yourself in Cornwall and wondering how to spend a day!! I hope you enjoy it!
