Nancy Wake

Just the Gist - A podcast by LiSTNR

AKA The White Mouse, AKA total badass. Nancy Wake was a Kiwi Australian nurse and journalist during WWII, which would've been heroic enough, but Nancy wanted to do more. So, she joined the French Resistance, learned how to kill Nazis with her bare hands in one-on-one combat, and spent the rest of the war smuggling Jewish people out of Nazi-occupied territory while gathering intelligence as a Special Operations Executive (AKA JAMES BOND LEVEL SHIT). Thought to be one of the inspirations behind Quentin Tarantino's film Inglourious Basterds, Nancy Wake was one woman you did not want to mess with.  Skip straight to the story: approx 22:36 We give you Just The Gist, but if you want more, there's this:READ:  Nancy’s autobiography is so great, can’t recommend it highly enough: https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-white-mouse-nancy-wake/book/9781742610757.html?source=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI84vH7orN9gIVkCQrCh0_KQdGEAQYASABEgKyzfD_BwE  Peter Fitzsimons also wrote a really good bio about Nancy: https://www.booktopia.com.au/nancy-wake-biography-revised-edition-peter-fitzsimons/book/9780732295257.html  WATCH: Here’s the link to the first part of a series that features Nancy telling her own story for TV in 1987.
