KDMEO Episode 83 - Go Go Waikiki (으라차차 와이키키) 7-8

K-Drama My Eyes Out - A podcast by Judy, Linda and Teresa

Categories:

Judy and Teresa are filled with nostalgia while watching episodes 7-8 of “Go Go Waikiki” (으라차차 와이키키), a JTBC drama starring Kim JungHyun, Lee YiKyung, Song SeungWon, Jung InSun, Go WonHee and Lee JooWoo.   Judy and Teresa are disappointed that Sooah (Lee JooWoo) is part of the main cast now, especially now that she's reverted from being a mature adult to a spoiled brat. We also realize that Yoonah (Jung InSun) never has any internal dialogue that lets us know what's going on inside her head, which is weird for a main character. Judy insists that Lee YiKyung, who plays Joonki, is doing a slight impression of Lee DukHwa, the actor who played his father in a previous episode. Is everyone else weirded out by how much DongGoo (Kim JungHyun) likes Yoonah all of a sudden?   Digressions: 3:10 - Korean names 22:47 - We have a thing for bad boys 40:10 - Judy tries and fails to explain romance numerology in Korea 1:03:53 - Judy's terrifying aegyo   Some Korean terms: 개새끼: [ge-se-kki] "son of a bitch"; literally "dog baby". 까까: [kka-kka] baby talk for "snack". 먹방: [muk-bang] online broadcast in which a host eats large quantities of food. 애교: [ae-gyo] overwhelming cuteness expressed through childishness. PC방: [P-C-bang] internet cafe. 떡볶이: [ddeok-bok-kki] spicy rice cakes. 대타: [de-ta] pinch hitter in baseball; used in regular parlance as "last minute substitute".   Audio credits: Ennio Morricone – Cinema Paradiso – “Tema D’Amore per Nata” Ennio Morricone – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – “Main Theme” 권연순 – “아빠 힘내세요” Minnie Riperton – “Lovin’ You” Wanna One – “Energetic”   Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com).
