A Constraints led approach to golf coaching – with Graeme McDowall #153

Mind Caddie - Improve Your Mental Golf Game - A podcast by Karl Morris - Fridays

Today we are joined on the Brain Booster by another Graeme McDowall! This time it is golf coach Graeme. We had a tremendous conversation about his new book ‘A constraints led approach to golf coaching’ A book written in conjunction with Ian Renshaw and Peter Arnott Graeme describes a familiar story from his own game of trying to ‘build a swing’ How he then struggled to take that swing onto the golf course. Great in practice Not so good on the course A familiar theme!! This led Graeme into a world of exploration as to why this lack of TRANSFER was occurring Graeme has an MPhil in Sports Coaching from the University of Birmingham and is a full-time Golf and Sports Coaching lecturer at the SRUC in Scotland. He is also an associate lecturer and a PhD researcher at the University of Abertay Dundee. So we got the opportunity to discuss areas such as The effects of ENVIRONMENT of learning How you can develop more golf SKILLS How to create effective learning environments How we then learn to interact and develop skills in that environment How coaching should be more about setting problems as opposed to always giving solutions His wonderful book is available on Amazon ‘A constraints led approach to golf coaching’ Buy it here: https://tinyurl.com/y2j3vmwb To find out more about the Mind Factor BLACK FRIDAY opportunity go to https://themindfactor.net/black-friday/
