Nicole Smith - Room to Read - Today I introduce you to the force that is Nicole Smith. She is a speaker, fundraiser and podcaster rooted in the value of volunteerism. She helps people connect with purpose, to live a meaningful more fulfilling life through connecting with others and cultivating compassion. Nicole is the Volunteer Chapter Leader for the New Jersey Room-To-Read chapter. Nicole loves to connect people to causes they care about. She believes giving back feels good, it improves your health, happiness and well being and it infuses you with energy. As you will hear, Nicole is the poster child for volunteerism fueling her energy. Nicole is on a mission to educate girls internationally and I can't wait for you to hear the stories about what happens when you teach a girl to read. Nicole has been a volunteer in some capacity most of her life, a value instilled in her by her parents and a value she shares with her children and anyone who will listen. I'm excited to bring you Nicole because I believe people at their heart want to help others and in our sensitive environment now, I think it's important to help each other. Nicole walks us through how she got started volunteering with Room to Read. And she tells us the compelling story of what role literacy has played in her life. Of course we touch on self care and how Nicole balances philanthropy and being a mom to 5 kids.
