Music Licensing vs Music Distribution

We've noticed confusion on whether a music distribution deal is the same as music licensing. Music distribution is the way that the music industry makes recorded music available to consumers. Music licensing is about placing recorded music and compositions and synchronising it against pictures such as films, TV, Trailers or Video Games. In Today's episode, Jody walks you through key differences between music distribution and music licensing and why it is important for artists to know the differences between the two. Jody Friedman is a Music Supervisor for Film, TV and Ads. In 2020, he made it his mission to be of service to indie artists and launched License Your Music coaching program on how to license your music for Film, TV, Ads and Trailers. Listen to Episode 37 of License Your Music with Jody Friedman.
