Jen found that reducing sugar and gluten has been good for all her family.Back in 2007, when her 3-year-old son began showing signs of a speech delay, a friend suggested that she try taking gluten out of his diet. At first she thought it was weird, but then Jen started researching it. So she decided to take all of the products with gluten out of the house, and the whole family started eating gluten free. Six weeks later, her son said his first complete sentence. With gluten out of his diet, her son started communicating. It was amazing! She also took sugar and gluten out of her other son's diet and noticed the positive effect on him.  And then after a gluten-filled date night with her husband, Jen experienced "knocked-out sleep", as if she'd been drunk.  She was cranky, she was irritable... as if she couldn't hold her eyes open. She could not function properly. Now her family calls it a "gluten hangover".Today the whole family is gluten free. Her sons are almost adults. They are fit, with a healthy metabolism, and they're doing well at STEM school. They are much more able to self-regulate and make (mostly!) healthy food choices. As for sugar, Jen noticed that when she eats too much sugar, her skin gets drier, and she has more cramps and hot flashes. During the pandemic, she and her family experimented with eating ice cream every week... but that regular "treat" made her body suffer. So she stopped that behaviour. As a professional personality strategist, Jen is an expert in the Enneagram, so she's skilled in creating boundaries and teaching how to respect your own personality when you make choices.Listen to Jen's inspiring story.
