33: #33 How to Succeed in Business as an Entrepreneur with ADHD or Autism

Unstuck (formerly Life In Business) - A podcast by Libby Langley - Business Coach - Thursdays

Running a business with a neurodivergent brain isn’t just different — it can be deeply disorienting, emotional, and confusing. In this personal episode, I’m opening up about my late autism diagnosis and my self-identified ADHD, and how both have shaped the way I work, support clients, and understand myself. I didn’t get officially diagnosed with ADHD, but the more I learned, the more I saw myself reflected in the stories and traits. Then, in early 2023, I attended a talk that helped me uncover a much deeper truth — that I’m also autistic. Getting a formal diagnosis in my late forties was a huge moment, not just in business but in life. It explained so many of the things I’ve struggled with for years — things I thought were just “how life was.” This episode is a vulnerable one. I’m sharing some of the key challenges I face day to day — like overstimulation, planning paralysis, and that constant background hum of “should be doing more” — as well as the coping strategies I’ve built to make things easier. This isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about understanding how your brain works and finding ways to support it, especially if you’re running your own business. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your thoughts, frustrated by procrastination, or like you’re “too much” or “not enough” — you’re not alone. Whether you’re officially diagnosed, self-identify, or are just beginning to wonder, this episode is here to remind you: there is nothing wrong with you. You just need systems that work with your brain, not against it. ✨ You don’t have to be “neurotypical” to run a successful, brilliant business. You just need to understand your way of doing things — and give yourself permission to do it that way.
