Episode 98: Amy Berger

Life's Best Medicine Podcast - A podcast by Dr. Brian Lenzkes - Wednesdays

Thank you for tuning in for another episode of Life’s Best Medicine. Amy Berger is a Certified Nutrition Specialist, author of multiple books on nutrition, and U.S. Air Force Veteran. She is also the founder of TuitNutrition.com—a nutrition blog and health coaching website. Her areas of interest include using low carb and ketogenic diets as nutritional therapies for diabetes (both type 2 and type 1), obesity, PCOS, migraines, acid reflux/GERD, cardiovascular disease, and neurological and neurodegenerative disorders (such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy). In this discussion, Brian and Amy talk about solving thyroid problems, treating depression with diet, getting past weight-loss stalls, stress eating and other emotional factors that cause people to eat more, the great value of getting enough quality sleep, why it is not advisable to overemphasize diet to the detriment of mental or emotional health, finding an effective balance between restriction and liberality with your diet, discovering the root cause of your poor eating habits, and making realistic goals. Life’s Best Medicine According to Amy: “I think we take for granted the importance of physical contact—not just sexual contact, but just hugging, holding hands, touching somebody on the arm. That human connection—physically and emotionally. We can’t do life alone; we need other people. It is a blessing to have friends and family.” Thank you for listening.
