A description of God’s saving work.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. The righteousness based on faith has been speaking the last few days as we’ve been encouraged by Rom. 10:6-9. Today, that righteousness of God tells us that faith in the heart is how God gives the righteousness of Jesus. When the Spirit produces faith in the heart of a person as they hear the gospel preached as Paul had been preaching to them, they know in their hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead and they know His righteousness is theirs as a gift of grace. Based upon faith in the heart, the person confesses that Jesus is both Christ (God’s provision of a savior) and Lord of life. They are saved! Over the next 7 verses Paul supported his soteriology from the Scriptures. Our encouragement today from this verse is that it gives us a description of all who are saved. It’s not a prescription, telling us what to do to be saved. It is a description of how God works in the heart of all who are His. Have you believed in Jesus? Then you are righteous in God’s sight. Do you testify that Jesus is your righteousness rather than trusting in your own works before God? If so, then you are saved! Let us who believe in Jesus, rejoice in God’s grace and the wonderful gift of His righteousness. Find satisfaction in His love above all else in this world. Drink repeatedly from this infinite well of love, and share it with those He puts in your life today. Father, thank You for giving us the gift of righteousness in Your Son and for giving us His life. You have loved us well, and we ask that Your love consume us and fill us so that we can make Your love known through our words and actions today. Amen.
