Be diligent to love His name by loving with Him

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Hebrews 6:11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end. Let’s let this verse encourage us, as it was meant to encourage the original readers. What is the hope that he wants them to realize? It is the justice of God not to forget their work and love shown toward the Lord’s name by loving and ministering to others, to the saints. To put it in a positive light, he wanted them to realize the hope of being rewarded by God for their love for Him and for His people.  He wanted them to realize the hope they have of God’s reward provides full assurance all the way until the end of their lives. The full assurance comes from God’s character. They can fully count on God’s justice to reward their faithfulness. Later in chapter 11, he put it this way. If they have a faith that holds fast to Jesus until the end of their lives, then that faith is the assurance of the promised reward, which they cannot presently see. It is faith that pleases God. He will reward faith because it is the work of His Son in their hearts. With that in mind, the author expressed the desire of he and his companions for them to keep up the good work of love toward the name of the Lord by loving one another. He wanted them to show the same diligence all the way until the end of their lives. He assured them that they would not be disappointed. That’s my encouragement to you today. Be diligent to show love for Jesus’ name by loving with Him through the rest of your life. Love well. Finish well. You will realize—experience—the fulfillment of your hope in being rewarded by God. I’ll put the cherry on top of today’s encouragement with Hebrews 11:6. “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
