Believers were raised when Jesus was raised.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Yesterday we were encouraged by the truth that we were buried with Christ through our union with His death. Today we take great encouragement from the truth that when Jesus was raised from the dead, we were raised to live a new life with Him. Knowing this is foundational to living to love with Jesus. Let me underline in our minds the phrase “with Jesus.” He was raised from the dead in order that He would live His life in everyone who is united to Him. We live because He lives. We have the life of Jesus dwelling within us. This means that we no longer live according to our old fleshly, selfish, worldviews and values. We live according to the worldview and values of Jesus Christ, who is God and is love. The worldview of Christ as I’ve outlined it in Live to Love: Experience Freedom and Joy in Relationships can be summed up in 3 foundational truths. I hope you’ll memorize them and filter all of life through them. From our perspective, they are: 1. There is only one God from whom all things come, and He is love. 2. Jesus’ love is enough. His love satisfies my soul. 3. God’s purpose in all things is to make us like Jesus and prepare us for eternity. Jesus lives, receiving life from His Father. That’s why Paul said we were raised “through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” The new life we live is a life characterized by His love. Our purpose for life has become Jesus’ purpose in life. He lived to reveal the love of God the Father for His glory. We live to reveal the love of God the Father through Jesus Christ for the glory of God. It is a privilege and joy to live in newness of life. I hope you’re encouraged today to live to love with Jesus for His glory because you were raised with Him through the glory of the Father.
