Establishing the Law by loving with Jesus

Romans 3:31 Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law. The law of faith establishes the Law of God. How does it do that? We believe in Jesus Christ because He has become the fulfillment of the Law for us. Listen to what Paul wrote later in this letter. In Romans 10:4 we read, “For Christ is the end (the completion) of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” Justification by works never fulfilled the Law. Only through faith in Jesus Christ is the Law officially fulfilled and established. Now, on a daily basis, those who believe in Jesus are called to live out the righteousness they have received by loving one another. Through us in Christ, the Law is fulfilled in us. Through Christ in us, the Law is fulfilled as we love with Him. Those deeds, accomplished by Jesus in us, are the deeds which will be rewarded when we come to stand before the judgment seat of Christ. He who knows the secrets of men’s hearts, knows what deeds He has done in all of those who believe in Him. Therefore we who live to love with Jesus have confidence in the Day of Judgment, for as He is in this world, so are we. Those are the words of John from 1 John 4:17. Be encouraged today as you live to love with Jesus. Jesus is fulfilling the Law and establishing it in you. Rejoice in His goodness, His love, His righteousness, and His grace toward you.
