For this very purpose, God has raised us up.

Romans 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.” In today’s verse, Paul underscored his previous statement that salvation doesn’t depend on anything but God’s purpose and choice in who and how He glorifies His name. The Holy Spirit brought Pharaoh to Paul’s mind as an example. It was God who raised Pharaoh into his position in Egypt, and He did it with a specified purpose, namely to demonstrate His power in him and that His name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth. Pharaoh was only an agent in God’s grand plan to glorify His name. So it is in all of our lives. What Scripture says to Pharaoh, it also says to the children of God. “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.” Let’s do this! God has a plan, and it is being revealed on a daily basis as He works out His purpose and plan. God’s plan for His children, the Israel of God, is for them to be channels of love through whom He glorifies His Son and makes His name great on the earth. I hope you’ll continually drink from the eternal fountain of the love of God in Christ. Drink until you are full to overflowing with the awe and wonder of being a recipient of His love—according to His purpose and choice. Receive, embrace, and then release His love for His glory today.
