Fulfilling prophecy

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 15:21 but as it is written, “They who had no news of Him shall see, and they who have not heard shall understand.” We have another encouragement to live to love with Jesus from the Scriptures, which Paul said earlier in this chapter was given for our instruction. Paul’s philosophy of missions apparently was derived from this passage in Isaiah 52:13-53:1. “Behold, My servant will prosper, He will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted. Just as many were astonished at you, My people, so His appearance was marred more than any man and His form more than the sons of men. Thus He will sprinkle many nations, kings will shut their mouths on account of Him; for what had not been told them they will see, and what they had not heard they will understand. Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?” God prophesied that He was going to reveal Christ to the nations. For the nations to see and understand a message that they had never heard before, meant that someone had to go and tell them. No doubt, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul knew he was chosen to be one of those sent by God so this prophecy would be fulfilled. That’s how Paul lived to love with Jesus. Jesus sent Paul on mission to preach the gospel, to love the Gentiles, to fulfill His Word. As a believer in Jesus in the 21st century, you may not realize that Jesus is still fulfilling this word from Isaiah and Romans. God will probably put people in your path who have not heard nor have they ever been told who Jesus is and why He came. They have no idea what life is about. They are dead in their trespasses and sins—children of wrath—just like you were. He will love them through you. He will then perform His Word, open their eyes and ears to hear and see Jesus in you as you love them with Him. Thus, you will become the fulfillment of this Scripture along with the apostle Paul. Can God use you like this? Of course He can. You have the life of Jesus Christ in you. He is revealing the love of the Father as He did when He came to earth in His human form. Now, we are His body, and you are a member of His body. Let’s be ready today to love with Him those He puts in our paths for the fulfillment of His Word and for His glory.
