God will fulfill His promise to Abraham through our witness.

Romans 11:12 Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! From these verses we see that God has had a plan. He knows what He is doing. Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones articulated it well in his commentary on Rom. 11. “As a result of Jewish unbelief two apparently impossible things follow, namely that the Gentiles should hear and believe the gospel and, through that, the Jews might be made desirous of receiving it.” We also learn from Paul what God’s plan is for the Jewish nation. He’s going to fulfill His promise to Abraham so the world will know that God is faithful to His word and is able to fulfill it. God is not finished with them and there is a time in history where God is going to bring the fullness of Israel to salvation, into the church, so God’s ultimate promise to Abraham will be wonderfully fulfilled. This has to be the explanation for why Israel has been preserved when enemy after enemy has sought to wipe them off the face of the earth. Since 1948 they have been reconstituted as a nation in the holy land, and we see them again suffering under Satan’s assault to prevent the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham. He will not be able to do it. God has a plan, and He is working the plan. He has a remnant of Abraham’s descendants who remain to be brought into the Israel of God. What does this have to do with us? It shows us the attitude Christians ought to have toward the Jews. It’s the attitude Paul wanted the Roman Gentiles to have toward the Jews. Their fulfillment ultimately verifies the faithfulness of God upon which we depend. Jesus love His people Israel and plans to use us to make them receptive to the gospel. How will that happen unless we demonstrate how satisfied and fulfilled we are in Christ? Unless we reach out in love and proclaim the wonders of God’s grace revealed in Jesus? Perhaps today, someone of Jewish descent may be in our paths so we can love them and share with them how God has graciously accepted us as beloved and fulfilled God’s promise to Abraham that he would be a father of many nations. Wow! What a privilege we have to reach out to God’s people with the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Acknowledgment: Music from “Carried by the Father” by Eric Terlizzi. www.ericterlizzi.com
