Grow strong in faith and give God glory.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 4:19-20 Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, We draw further encouragement today from our father Abraham who loved God by trusting in Him, in hope against hope as we were told in the previous verse. As Abe contemplated the reality of his and Sarah’s physical condition—both as good as dead when it comes to having children—his faith did not weaken. How was this possible? There’s a great lesson to be learned and applied today. Although reality caused him to take note of the impossibility of God’s promise coming to pass, the fact that God promised trumped the impossibility of his circumstances. He kept his eyes fixed on God, His character and power. Notice that Paul said that Abraham did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God. That means that Abe recognized God as the source of His faith, hope, and fulfillment of the promise. Let us, like our father, Abraham, keep our eyes fixed on Jesus as the source of our faith (he’s the author and perfecter of faith—Heb. 12:2) and the source of our love. Do not waver in unbelief that God can do what He promises. He gives us life and fills us with His love for His glory. So let us give glory to God for the great things He has done and is doing in our lives. Acknowledgment: Music from “Carried by the Father” by Eric Terlizzi. www.ericterlizzi.com
