Heirs of eternal life.

Romans 4:13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. There is great encouragement in this verse isn’t there? Not only was Abraham an heir of the world, but if we are his children, so are we heirs through the righteousness of faith. Later in Romans 8:17 Paul wrote, “And if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.” To the Galatians, Paul wrote in 3:29 “And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.” Titus 3:7 “So that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” We are heirs of eternal life! Eternal life according to Jesus is this: John 17:3 “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” We have eternal life now in that we have Jesus living within us now. We know Him, and if we know Him, we know the Father. If we know the Father and the Son, we are His beloved children, heirs of the world, with Abraham. The life of Jesus dwelling within us is the source of the love we have for others. It is God’s work in our lives for His glory.
