How does one know he abides in Jesus?

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

1 John 3:24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. What an encouragement we find today in this verse. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit, which means that He receives us to Himself, abides in, and forever remains in and with us. There’s never a moment that we don’t have the life of Christ available to us, enabling us to keep His commandments to live to love with Him. If we hold fast to Jesus’ commandments, we abide in Him—we receive Him. Furthermore, we know Jesus lives in us and is with us by the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit. The apostle John surely wrote this because He heard Jesus say this, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day [in the day that Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to you] you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Did you get that? The day the Holy Spirit is given to you, you can be assured that three things are true. 1. Jesus is in the Father. 2. You are in Jesus. and 3. Jesus is in you. The day you receive the Holy Spirit is observable and experiential. You know it has happened. You are aware that Jesus lives and is in you. How do you know? Because you love and keep His commandment. You intentionally remind yourself that Jesus called you to love with Him. Additionally, His presence in you is evident. Be encouraged today. God, the Father, and Jesus Christ, the Son are in you through the Holy Spirit who has been given to you.
