If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, your inner man is united with Him.

Romans 7:21-22 I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, Paul taught his readers that there was an important distinction to be made between his body (the outer man) and the mind of the inner man. He had said that who he is in Christ wants to do the good thing, he wants to practice righteousness, but if he looks to the flesh for the power to do it, he not only finds himself not able to do the good, but ends up doing evil. So in this verse he summarized his condition when he tries to live his life under the Law. He found that there was a principle or dynamic of evil present in his flesh that was drawn out and exposed by the Law. It wouldn’t have been recognized if he had not been changed in the inner man by the Spirit of God to want to do the good that the law commands. His inner man, as a son of God, agreed that the righteousness of the Law is good, but that knowledge of the goodness of the Law was not more powerful than the principle of sin dwelling in his body. So to be clear, Paul was showing his readers that the Law did not have the power to produce fruit for God, even in the believer. Holiness, righteousness, and goodness cannot be produced by the knowledge of the Law because of the principle of sin dwelling in our bodies. Let me put it before us in an equation format. Flesh + Law —> sin. The Holy Spirit + Faith —> righteousness. Do you live your life from the impulses of the outer man or the inner man? Are you trying to do good without intentionally and consciously being filled with the Holy Spirit? Today, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you are united with Christ in the inner man, live and love out of His life.
