It’s a privilege to live to love with Jesus

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. The encouragement today from 1 John 5:3 is that if we are living to love with Jesus, we are loved by God. We live to love with Him because He has commanded it. In 1 John 3:23, John wrote, “This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.” The fact that living to love with Jesus isn’t burdensome indicates that we have been loved by God. As John wrote in this verse, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” Loving our brothers and sisters in Christ is not burdensome to us who have experienced God’s love through Jesus. It’s a privilege and joy because as John said in 4:19, “We love, because He first loved us.” Having been forgiven of all of our sins in Christ, we celebrate God’s love with our brothers and sisters by forgiving, being patient, and serving each other. We know Jesus loves God’s children, for the joy and glory of His and our Father, so we consider it an honor and a privilege to love one another so we can experience the Lord’s joy together. This is a powerful motivation to commit yourself to live to love with Jesus for the rest of your life. Love intentionally. Love expectantly. Love freely with Jesus today and everyday.
