One powerful act of righteousness.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 5:18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. It is righteous that God condemn everyone. Through the one rebellious act against God, in which we all participated, we are guilty and condemned. We may chafe at God’s reckoning us guilty in Adam. But when we consider how God justified us so that we can live forever by reckoning us as having participated in Jesus’ one great eternal act of righteousness, do we not marvel at the wisdom and love of God?! On the first hand, we react and cry, “Unfair!” It doesn’t seem reasonable for God to condemn us as a result of another man’s transgression. Then on the other hand, we rejoice in awe and cry, “Amazing grace!” Such justification of sinners as a result of another man’s righteousness also doesn’t seem reasonable, but who’s going to push back and argue with God in the face of His great love and judgment? Now let’s apply this great reasoning to living to love with Jesus. It doesn’t seem reasonable to the natural mind that we would forgive and love those who sin against us as a result of another man’s righteousness, namely, God’s judgment and demonstration of love in Christ. But that’s what we do because that’s how we have been loved by God through Jesus. We love because He first loved us in this marvelous, gracious way through His Son, and His Son now lives in us to continue pouring out His Father’s love. Enjoy the adventure today.
