Raised in the likeness of Jesus’ resurrection

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 6:5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, Let’s be encouraged today by our union with Jesus. Paul reasoned with his readers in this way. If you have been united with Jesus so that His death to sin in this world is counted as your death to sin in this world, then it is a definite reality that you also will be united with His resurrection life. Paul’s point was this: having been united with Jesus’ death and resurrection, you certainly would not continue to live the old sin-sick life relying on the grace of God as your fire insurance. You have the resurrected, victorious Christ living within you. This is life transforming! You have a new life if you are a believer in Jesus Christ. That new life is like Jesus’ life. You have a new purpose, the same purpose as Jesus does now. We will see what that purpose is in the next few days. You have a new worldview because now you have the same relationship with God as Jesus does. You are a child of God who is loved by the Father. You have the potential to live your life from the same God-centered perspective as Jesus does. I mentioned three foundational worldview perspectives yesterday. I’ll repeat them today because we want to be Christ-like today. 1. There is only one God from whom all things come, and He is love. 2. Jesus’ love is enough. His love satisfies our souls. 3. God’s purpose in all things is to make us like Jesus and prepare us for eternity. If you think like Jesus and are identified by Jesus’ life, then everything changes. It’s a new life that you have the privilege of living—a life living to love with Jesus. I pray that we all will live in the fullness and newness of life that God intended and planned for all who have been united with Christ.
