The fruit of Jesus’ obedience.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 5:19 For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. Today we see the bad news and then the good news as Paul continued comparing what occurred through Adam and Jesus. Through Adam’s sin of disobeying God and eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, many were made sinners. Through Jesus’ obedience to His Father in willingly and obediently laying down His life as a substitutionary sacrifice for those the Father gave Him, the many will be made righteous. When they stand in the judgment, they will have Jesus’ righteousness reckoned to their account. When we pause to consider and meditate on this wonderful hope of the gospel, we should be in awe that this righteousness is 100% the result of God’s purpose in eternity to set His affection upon everyone whom He put into His Son. Let these two verses of Scripture encourage your hearts. 2 Timothy 1:9 speaks of God “who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity. And 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 “But by His (that’s God’s) doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.” We have been loved before the foundation of the world! Not because we were good. Not because He saw that we would believe in Jesus. Purely because He created us in Christ and chose to love us forever. As the “Beloved of God,” today, we can live to love with Jesus because we have been loved by God and are fully satisfied with all that Jesus is for us. Live today in light of the hope of the gospel, and may it inspire you to love others for His glory. That is the fruit of Jesus’ obedience displayed fruitful branches.
