The Spirit of God gives life to all believers.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Paul called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of life in Rom. 8:2. Jesus was raised from the dead by the Spirit of God, the Father. The same Spirit of God that raised Jesus, the Spirit of Life, lives in all who have been justified by faith in Jesus. The promise in this verse that He will give life to our mortal bodies through His Spirit gives glorious hope. We have the very life of God living and working in our lives! We should conclude from this that our lives are not our own. We belong to God. Remember that Paul had just told them that if anyone doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in them, then they don’t belong to God? Although he didn’t say it explicitly, he clearly meant that everyone who does have the Spirit of Christ living within them, indeed, belongs to God. Our bodies are His. Our souls are His. Our lives are His. This is tremendous encouragement for us who believe in Jesus to live to love with Him. We always have the life of Jesus as the source of love flowing through our lives as we abide in Christ, receive what God gives us daily, and love with Him for the glory of God. I hope you’ll pause and think about this wonderful reality. You have the Spirit of God dwelling in your mortal body. God loves you, and will fill you with His life, light, and love as you trust Him with all things and love those He puts in your path.
