You can know that you are in Christ and free from condemnation.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I would like to encourage you again today from Rom. 8:1 by asking another question. Yesterday I asked, “How does one get in Christ?” The answer was, God put you in Christ. Today, I ask, “How do you know if you are in Christ?” The way you know that you are in Christ is that God gave you faith when you heard the gospel and believed. Faith is an assurance, wrote the author of Heb. in 11:1. Faith is a work of the Holy Spirit as described in Acts 15:8-9. Acts 15:8 “And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us; and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.” Later in Rom. 10, vs. 17, Paul explained that faith comes from hearing the gospel, but the hearing comes from the word (the rhema) of Christ, which is the Holy Spirit applied word of God. W.E. Vines described the significance of rhema vs. logos. Rhema “is exemplified in the injunction to take ‘the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,’ (Eph. 6:17). Here the reference is not to the whole Bible as such, but to the individual scripture which the Spirit brings to our remembrance for use in time of need. A prerequisite being the regular storing of the mind with Scripture.” Paul’s point in Rom. 10:17 is that you believed when the Spirit of God made the truth of the Scripture or the gospel come alive to you. Your heart ears were opened by the Holy Spirit like Lydia’s heart was opened in Acts 16:14 “A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.” So who is it that is free from condemnation? It is all those whom God put into Christ and assured them by giving them faith in Jesus. If you believe in Jesus, then God put you into Christ, and there is no condemnation for you. In that freedom, standing in grace, walk in gratitude, joy, peace, and love with Jesus today and everyday. Acknowledgment: Music from “Carried by the Father” by Eric Terlizzi. www.ericterlizzi.com
