You won’t be disappointed if you believe in Jesus.

Live to Love Scripture Encouragement - A podcast by Norm Wakefield

Romans 10:11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” In this verse, Paul reached back to a quote from Is. 28:16 to support what the righteousness based on faith has said. In Paul’s mind, to say one who believes in the stumbling stone (namely Jesus) that God laid in Zion (the place of salvation) will “not disappointed” is the same as saying that the one who believes in Jesus will be saved. Let’s remember why Paul wrote this. He wrote it out of love and concern for his fellow Jews who were trying to obtain righteousness based on their work and efforts to keep the Law. What good news we have to tell our friends, family, work associates, and acquaintances! Trust in Jesus! You won’t be disappointed. Rely on yourself and you will be disappointed. Trust in Jesus, and you’ll be saved. Rely on your own understanding and good works, and you will be disappointed. The implication is that the believer in Jesus won’t be disappointed in this life and won’t be disappointed on “that day” when Jesus comes to be glorified in His saints and to be marveled at by all who believe. I hope this verse encourages you today to live by the righteousness of Christ instead of your own efforts. His life is in you, and He loves to do righteousness, which always looks like the love of God: doing what is the highest good for another no matter what the cost by the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.
