When you consider going in and processing your emotions- what comes up for you? Do you have fear around what feeling your emotions might create? You're not a lone in that fear. Many people (because of the way we have heard it all our lives) have been taught that emotions aren't meant to be felt. Many of you were told as kids that you shouldn't feel angry, or sad, or even feel love. So you taught yourself that emotions were not safe. However, in orer to get the things we desire most in life (like true meaningful fullfilment) it requires our willingness to feel the discomfort. It requires us to feel ALL our emotions. And no I'm not saying we need to think through our emotions- we need to learn how to actually go inside and feel them in our body. So how? How do we make this shift after so many years of thinking and beleiving our emotiosn weren't safe? First- we have to recognize that our emotions are probably 'asleep' and 'hiding'. We have to have the patience to go in and allow our emotions to be noticed. It will take time. And second- we need to start doing what I call emotional sprints. Emotional sprints are where we just pick a short period of time to go inside and build up your trust and safety for one emotion. It can be 2 minutes, 4 minutes... whatever feels safe for you to start. Then practice for that amount of time, going inside and FEELING that emotion- practice letting it come out. Building safety and trust in ourselve and our emotions is so important. It's the way to a fulfilling life. 🔗Get full episode show notes at here
