Michael Meade takes up the issues of the current impeachment trial from the ground of the epic tale of the Odyssey.  He shows how a "nobility gap" and a loss of authenticity have led to abdication of duty and a lack of courage amongst those entrusted with the public good.  In the ancient story, Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom appears at a critical time when disorder and injustice have taken over core cultural institutions. The old story serves as a reminder of the origins of democracy in ancient Athens and the importance of wisdom if truth and meaning are to be found again.
