It was a big ask of the Colorado Avalanche to play an away back to back, have the first of those games be a later start, the second be an earlier start, have the second team you're playing have 4 days rest, and have no Cale Makar. That might sound like a lot of excuses, but despite all that the Avalanche were hanging in with the Los Angeles Kings until they just ran out of gas in the 3rd period where LA scored 3 goals in the final 6 minutes to run away with two points.
