Anthony Davis Explains His Injury... But Not When He'll Return. Can LeBron Keep the Lakers Going?

Locked On Lakers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Lakers - A podcast by Locked On Podcast Network, Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

The Lakers had a busy weekend. LeBron James celebrated his 38th birthday in Atlanta by burying the Hawks in an avalanche of high end, classic James performance. 47 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, on 18-27 from the floor. LeBron, who had a slow-by-his-standards start to the season, is now putting up numbers eerily similar to his career stats. He is, in short, balling at a very high level, particularly over the last 10 games. But can he continue at that level in a January where the Lakers need to start making moves in the Western Conference to insert themselves back into the playoff race out West? Particularly when, as we learned before the game, Anthony Davis is still a giant question mark. Davis spoke to the media in Atlanta, and broke down his breakdown. There's a stress injury in the foot and a bone spur in the ankle. The pain is starting to dissipate, but hasn't gone away completely. He wasn't willing/able to put any sort of timetable on a return to play. It seems unlikely anyone will let him near the court until the pain is gone, at which point there needs to be a ramp up with checkpoints to make sure the problem doesn't recur. That's not going to happen in, like, a week. What will things look like for the Lakers at the end of January, after they survived (or survived, enough) a challenging December (one filled with squandered chances, for what it's worth)? Finally, LeBron may be pouring it on right now, but there are signs that a little more help would be welcome and necessary. The clues come in the percentage of his buckets generated from an assist. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Anthony Davis explains it all... but what do we really know? SEGMENT 2: Can the Lakers survive another month, one with more home games, but that needs to bring a lot more wins? SEGMENT 3: LeBron is doing incredible stuff, but the numbers indicate more help helps. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
