Russell Westbrook: "I Just Need to Do My Job." But What Is It? Plus, Questions for Lakers Media Day!

Locked On Lakers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Lakers - A podcast by Locked On Podcast Network, Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

The Lakers kick off training camp Monday, at a time when, to say the least, folks have a LOT of questions. About the direction of the roster, the philosophy of management, the present, the future, and basically anything in between. For one day, at least, some of those questions will get answered as the process of turning the hypothetical into the actual begins. Will Russell Westbrook really come off the bench? What exactly is LeBron James prioritizing these days? How does Darvin Ham's job change going from lead assistant to head coach? Why didn't Lonnie Walker develop the way everyone wanted in San Antonio? Just a few of the questions people want to understand as the season starts. But first... Russell Westbrook spoke with ESPN recently, and had some interesting comments about "the job" he's going to do this year. He just has to show up and do his job. He's all in on doing whatever it takes to win. In theory, being all in to do what it takes to win is well in line with doing the job. It's always hard to know, though, whether everyone understands the terms in the same way. Westbrook talks as well about his family, and the incredible disappointment that came given how the season went. It was uncomfortable for everyone, and unpleasant for his family and friends that were so excited to have Westbrook back in town, playing at home. And, likely, it was embarrassing for Westbrook himself to be at the root of the problem. Because he knows that ultimately, it was the catastrophic failure of the season driving the harsh atmosphere around him at home games. So what's next?
