We start with the weekend's news - that the Lakers will open with a pair of very tough games, October 18 against the Warriors in San Francisco to open the NBA season, then October 20 at the Crypt vs. the Clippers. For a team that needs to get off to a good start, that's a tough early slate. So is that good for them? Bad? What happens if they win? How much angst if they're blown out? Do the Lakers, who had a soft schedule early last year and struggled against it, benefit from a tougher early season slate? How good are the Lakers, right now? ESPN projected them at 42 wins. Fair?
