The Montreal Canadiens surprised a lot of people when they took Juraj Slafkovsky over Shane Wright with the first overall pick. The Blackhawks made a controversial trade involving 40-goal scorer Alex DeBrincat, but they started the draft with no first round picks and ended up with three choices in the first round.
