Panthers Lose 3-1 In Ottawa. To Make Matters Worse, lose Barkov At The End

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two are here to break down the Panthers' 3-1 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators. The Sens looked like the more desperate team coming out of the gate as they out skated the Cats in the first 20 minutes with multiple chances off the rush, including 17 shots in the first period. The Panthers buckled down in the second period and beyond spending a bunch of time in the Senators end, but the commitment to shot blocking helped Ottawa deny the Panthers from completing their comeback attempt. There were a lot of great things going for the Panthers after they switched up the top six, until the last 1:10 of the game when the Cats had the extra attacker. During the 6-on-5, Captain Aleksander Barkov broke is stick and chased Tim Stutzle in an attempt to deny him from scoring on the empty net. After the conversion, Stutzle and Barkov collided at the end boards together with Barkov getting the worst of it, sliding feet first. Barkov was slow to get up and put zero weight on his right foot.
