Episode 206: Hutch Harris

Episode 206 of Look At My Records! features an interview with notable indie rocker Hutch Harris! The former Thermals frontman dropped a new solo record back in October, a lyrically nihilistic, yet melodically sweet collection of 10 punchy tunes titled Suck Up All The Oxygen. The record sees Harris reviving some of the fervor and tenacity of his former band, marking a definite shift in sound and subject matter when compared with the toned-down nature of his 2018 effort, Only Water. During the interview, Tom and Hutch chatted all about the doom and gloom themes of Suck Up All The Oxygen, Hutch’s early days in Portland (including his short stint drumming in The Minders), how he’s handled the transition from being in a touring band to writing and recording music mostly at home, the more collaborative nature of his new project Clear Rivers, and much more.
