On this episode of Magical Moments Jill interviews Mira Mariah of Girl Knew York! Mira is a very special artist and is our neighbor at Rockefeller Center for a pop up! She is a magical person as so is her magical journey, which is an honor to share! We are here to make life fun!Girl Knew York is the brand and brainchild of artist Mira Mariah. Mariah started her journey as a fashion illustrator after attending FIT for design. After having her daughter at 20, she shifted her focus to tattooing and completed a traditional apprenticeship five years ago. Since then, she has developed a signature style that clients in NYC, across the country and abroad come to her for. The imagery in her art falls in line with the causes and beliefs she holds dear. Her work includes women in all their various bodily forms, abilities and ways of being, along with symbols from the natural world, spirituality/religion and perhaps the least natural world-high fashion and luxury. Along with tattooing you can find her arts in digital prints, painting, ink drawings, multimedia work, and packaging design. Tattooing provided Mira with an intimate way to connect with her fans in person and lead her to grow a close knit community on instagram that boasts over 200k followers. Now Girl Knew York represents all there is to celebrate about Girl Culture: friendship, romance, parties, fashion, advocacy, laughter and more (and please note, Girl is gender neutral). As a young, disabled, Latin mother, she shows her fans that they don't have to live the life society expects them to-even that she dares to value glamour and romance is an act of rebellion. She now features her designs on original merchandise in multiple categories and artist prints. She also partners with brands both as an artist and model to create unique products and or campaigns that resonate with her community and support the causes she is passionate about. Some recent work includes partnerships with MeUndies, Nordstrom, and Fresh Beauty.
